Editorial Principles
Gist 7 aims to cover "only what you need to know in a flood of news," with summaries and analysis readers can trust. These are the principles we follow when choosing, writing, reviewing, and correcting stories.
1. Accuracy and sources
- Every article is checked against at least two reliable sources, all listed under "Sources" at the end.
- We prioritize official announcements, primary documents, and reputable news outlets, and confirm that every source link actually opens before publishing.
- Figures, dates, and quotes are checked against the sources. Anything we cannot verify is left out or clearly marked as unconfirmed.
2. Separating facts from analysis
- We write facts (what happened) separately from analysis (why it matters and what it means).
- Forecasts and opinions are attributed to whoever made them and are not presented as certainties.
3. Review and translation
- Every article is reviewed by a person for content and sources before publication, and a person decides whether it is published.
- The English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese editions are adapted from the Korean original for local readers, and only reviewed languages are published.
4. Corrections and updates
- When an error is confirmed, we fix it promptly. If the content changes meaningfully, the article shows a "Last updated" date.
- Correction requests and tips are welcome at the contact below. We will let you know whether and how they were applied.
5. Independence and advertising
- Ads appear only in places clearly separated from article content, and advertisers have no say over topics or content.
- We do not publish paid or sponsored articles. If we ever do, they will be clearly labeled near the headline.
6. Bylines
- Articles produced together by our editors are credited to "Gist 7 Editorial Team." Articles written or reviewed by an individual show that person's name and background.
